Post-Procedure – “After Care”:
- The “aftercare” procedures are as important to the retention of the pigment as the actual implantation process. During this period, the primary objective is to allow the bonding process to be completely sealed inside the dermis. Your compliance will ensure that you receive maximum benefits from the procedure and reduce inconvenient follow-up visits.
Day 1 (Day of the procedure)
-Oily skin please clean your brows every 30-60 min for the first 6 hours (total 6 times) after the procedure using a damp cotton (using clean bottled water) and washing hands before each cleaning time.
-Dry skin cleans every hour for the first 3 hours (total of 3 times)
-Right after the last wipe apply a thin layer of Healing Ointment
-Before bed oily skin may wash using lukewarm water very gently removing the lymph, pat dry and apply ointment
-Dry skin may not wash if the skin does not have visible lymph on top of the skin, just make sure your skin is moist before bed.
Day 2
– Clean brows morning and night by soaking cotton pad and squeezing out excess water using dabbing motion.
– Oily skin may wash one more time if the skin eliminated lymph during night, pat dry and apply thin layer of ointment. If no lymph then just keep the eyebrows hydrated with the ointment as needed, means apply ointment only when you feel the skin is dry.
Day 3-7-10
-Everyone’s skin has its own healing process and duration. It is recommended to apply ointment as long as the skin is still scabbed, and even after. The ointment will help your skin regenerate faster and better.
During Day 1 to Day 7 or even longer (until the scabs are gone)
- AVOID water (for the PMU area), makeup, excessive sweating, no sauna, no pools, no sunbathing, do not PEEL the scabs at all (you may cause scarring otherwise).
- Do not apply anything besides provided ointment such as vaseline, antibiotic creams, neosporin etc. Grapeseed oil may be used to substitute aquaphor.
- Avoid activities that will cause sweating for 10 days.
- No swimming pools, hot tubs for 14 days.
- No uv exposure (including tanning booths).
- No exfoliants, retinol acids, glycolic acids and alpha hydroxy acids on the area for 30 days after the appointment (causes premature fading)
- No massages, facials or skin treatments, threading, waxing or hair removal products.
- During 4 weeks after the procedure is best to not use creams that contain acids or ingredients that will lighten or exfoliate the skin
- The touch up is best to be done 4 weeks later and allow extra time for clients that heal longer, also give extra healing time for mature clients as well.
- Do not use any makeup on the brows for at least 7 days.
- After the procedure is completely healed, you make go back to your regular cleansing and makeup routine. Avoid scrubbing the area. Use sunblock after the procedure area is healed to protect from sun fading.
What to expect:
- Mild swelling, itching, light scabbing, light bruising and dry tightness. Ice packs are nice relief for swelling and bruising. Aftercare ointments work well for scabbing and tightness.
- Too dark and slightly uneven appearance. After 2-7 days the darkness will fade, and once any swelling dissipates unevenness usually disappears. If it is too dark or still a bit uneven after 4 weeks then we will make adjustments during the touch up appointment.
- Color change or color loss.
- As the procedure area heals, the color will lighten and sometimes seem to disappear in places. This can all be addressed during the touch up appointment which is why touch up is necessary. The procedure area has to heal completely before we can address any concerns. Healing takes about four weeks.
- Need a touch-up months later.
- A touch up may be needed 6 months to 1 year after the first touch up procedure depending on your body metabolizes pigment, your skin, skin care products you use, medications, and exposure to environmental factors We recommend the first touch up 30 days after the first session. Then every 6 months to 1 year to keep them looking fresh and beautiful. Future touch up sessions will cost as per the current touch up rate at the time you have it done
Take Notice:
EACH CLIENT’S SKIN RESPOND DIFFERENTLY, BOTH IN THE LENGTH OF TIME IT TAKES TO HEAL, AND THE NUMBER OF SESSIONS NEEDED FOR YOUR DESIRED RESULTS AND COLOR RETENTION. THIS INFORMATION ACTS AS A GUIDELINE ONLY, AND WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR RESULTS. THE RESULTS AND LONGEVITY OF YOUR TATTOO WILL DEPEND GREATLY ON HOW YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR TATTOO DURING THE HEALING PROCESS AND BEYOND.
